La Grande Middle School Wildcats are wrapping up a successful academic year, along with some events and celebrations.

8th Grade On-Track to Graduate Ceremony

On the last day of school, June 5th, about 130 eighth graders were recognized at this event with parents and families. Students who were passing all their classes were eligible to participate and received a certificate and medal.

According to Caleb Patterson, Assistant Principal at LMS, about 86% of the eighth-grade class participated, an increase over 70% last year. He said school leadership is really proud of how well the students have done this year. “We have seen a lot of growth and improvement in our eighth graders this year.”

Patterson also said there were 40 eighth graders who earned straight A’s during their entire time at LMS.

6th Grade Attendance Bikes

To celebrate strong, nearly perfect attendance for sixth graders, Rogers Toyota recently presented 24 sixth-grade students with brand-new bicycles. The students had missed less than 10% of the school year.

Patterson said LMS greatly appreciates the generosity of Rogers Toyota.

Overall, attendance at the middle school has improved during the 25-26 school year compared to last school year, thanks to targeted strategies and working with students and families.

Spring Sports

For the first time ever, LMS organized spring soccer, which included boys and girls from all three grades. Patterson said the first year was very successful and they hope to continue it.

About 100 students recently completed the track and field season, which was also a positive sport this spring.

Last Days of School

LMS Wildcats had some fun the last week of school. The sixth graders had a Bowling Day, and all students enjoyed water activities on the last day.

Have a great, restful summer, Wildcats!
