09-07-23 La Grande High School Wrestling Champions Awarded Rings On Friday, September 1, during halftime at the La Grande Tigers football game, seventeen LHS wrestlers were celebrated. The wrestlers who won the 4A state championship this past spring received their championship rings. Three wrestlers who won individual state championships also received their rings, as well as the six team managers and Wrestling Coach Klel Carson and his five assistant coaches. District representatives who presented the rings were Superintendent George Mendoza, School Board Chair Randy Shaw, LHS Principal Chelsea Hurliman and LHS Athletic Director Darren Goodman. Chair Shaw said, “It’s very special to be able to celebrate these athletes and coach and recognize the phenomenal work and effort it takes to achieve a state championship. It never gets old to see their smiles and see how proud they are, as they should be.” La Grande School District and School Board congratulate Coach Carson and the wrestling athletes on this accomplishment! ###

Every Day Matters! Students with regular school attendance are more likely to succeed in school and beyond. Missing just one day per month can equal 10% of the school year and adversely affect learning. Hey Cougar Family, please review this attendance video with your student(s). We are asking all students to not miss more than 17 days of school this year! An idea for home would be to find a visible location and keep a running tally of total days missed for the year! Let's Go!
