La Grande Middle School was pleased to celebrate its eighth graders with a new event this year. The 8th Grade On Track to Graduate Ceremony was on the last day of school on June 5th. All eighth graders who were passing all their classes were eligible to participate, and parents and families were invited to attend.
At the event, after the procession and welcome, the ASB eighth grade President gave a short speech, the LMS Choir sang and George Mendoza, LGSD Superintendent, made some remarks. Then, all eligible eighth grade students were presented a certificate and an On Track to Graduate medal. Also, cords were presented to students:
Gold cords for students who attained Honor Roll all three years at LMS
Silver cords for students who attained Honor Roll during their 8th Grade year
Black cords for students in LMS Leadership
LMS Principal Chris Wagner said he was happy with how the event turned out. “We at LMS were excited to honor our outgoing eighth grade students with this ceremony. We hope that they remember being celebrated today for their work at LMS and they stay focused to graduate from LHS in four years. We are proud of them,” Wagner said.
